My Favorite TV Show
One of my favorite shows of all time is The Office (U.S.). The show originally aired on NBC on March 25, 2005 and ended on May 16, 2013. The show is a fake documentary that shows the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the "Dunder Mifflin Paper Company." There are nine seasons and 201 episodes. The main characters are Michael Scott (Steve Carell), Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), Ryan Howard (B. J. Novak), Andy Bernard (Ed Helms), and Robert California (James Spader). The other characters include Angela Martin (Angela Kinsey), Kelly Kapoor (Mindy Kaling), Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nunez), Darryl Philbin (Craig Robinson), Erin Hannon (Ellie Kemper), Toby Flenderson (Paul Liberstein), Kevin Malone (Brain Bamgartner), Phyllis Lapin (Phyllis Smith), Stanley Hudson (Leslie David Baker), Meredith Palmer (Kate Flannery), Creed Bratton (Creed Bratton), Roy Anderson (David Denman), Karen Filippelli (Rashida Jones), Holly Flax (Amy Ryan), Jan Levenson (Melora Hardin), and David Wallace (Andy Buckley).
The Office is a comedy, and a great one at that. When I first started watching the show, I thought it was really awkward and I was kind of confused as to what the point of the show was. But that's the whole point, the show is hilarious and unrealistic as to what really happens in an office. The manager, Michael, doesn't even know what he's doing half of the time! He makes fun of his employees (especially Toby), and sits in his office all day messing around or calling up his true love, Jan. Anyways, once you get into the show, it's really addicting and it's so stupid, awkward, and random; thats what makes this show my favorite TV show of all time. On the right, there's a picture of an ID card with Dwight's name on it. One of the funny jokes that went on throughout the series was that Dwight always wanted to be the manager of the company and he would constantly pester Michael about it. To shut Dwight up, Michael said that he could be his assistant, and therefore gave him the title of "assistant to the regional manager." Later on, however, this was not good enough for Dwight of course, so he begged and pleaded to be promoted to "assistant regional manager." Eventually, Dwight got what he wanted.
I found this picture and I remembered that it was from one of the best episodes where the employees all tried to lose weight together to win a company-wide weight loss competition. The winning branch would receive extra vacation days! Initially everyone was excited to do this competition, especially Kelly. Kelly went a little overboard by trying a bunch of different diets and even stopped eating! Even though the Scranton branch ended up losing, the only person really happy was Stanley with his own weight loss. This picture is when everyone was standing on the scale trying to take a "before" picture.
This picture also reminded me of something I found hilarious in the show; Kelly and Ryan's "relationship." Kelly was very obsessive towards Ryan but Ryan always was laid back and didn't really care about his feelings for Kelly. Once and awhile he would be completely in love with her and on other days he would hate her! They were always fighting, breaking up, hooking up, or just making some kind of scene. I thought it was always so funny because Kelly is so peppy and crazy and Ryan always thought she was psychotic and he just tried to act like a hot-shot.
This is one of the pictures that describes Dwight perfectly! Dwight is a obsessive, crazy, smart, cunning, funny, and very serious about his work. One of the best aspects of the show is that Jim and Dwight always are in a battle. Jim is constantly teaming up with Pam to fool Dwight. Like how one time they pretended that he was on the radio and we're talking to him on the phone while he thought he was in an interview. Another time Jim played a prank on Dwight was when he dressed up exactly as Dwight for the day and copied his every move and pretended to say and act exactly as Dwight, it was so funny! One more funny thing was around christmas one time, Jim wrapped up all of Dwight's stuff on his desk and it all looked like a bunch of presents; Dwight went to go sit down in his chair and falls to the floor! He realized that Jim just wrapped everything up and there was actually no furniture under the paper, so, as soon as Dwight touched anything it collapsed and it made him really mad at Jim, it was so funny!
